GPS fun

July 10th, 2008

I bought a little tiny Bluetooth GPS module the other day, just as it seemed a total bargain at £20. I’ve had a bit of a play around with it, and can now offer the waiting internet the prospect of Live Narrowboat Tracking! Perhaps only marginally more exciting than watching paint dry, clicking on the Where is Innocenti? link in the sidebar you can see where Innocenti is, assuming that I’ve remembered to turn on the PC and GPS module…

Changing hosting

March 31st, 2008

I’ve just migrated the website to a new hosting firm (www.xilo.net), so please bear with me if bits of the site are broken. Do let me know if you find some part of it that’s stopped working in the move!

WordPress updates and OpenID finally working

February 29th, 2008

I’ve upgraded to the latest version of WordPress to solve a problem with the blog being displayed in reverse order, so sorry if I’ve munged your RSS feeds in the last few days. I’ve also finally managed to make OpenID work for comments, so LiveJournal users should at last be able to enter their LJ URI in the “website” field and get approved for comments quickly and easily.

Email and videos

September 29th, 2006

I’ve made a few tweaks to the way that the site works and added a couple of new features.

Firstly, the videos are now in a separate category of their own, so if you’re just interested in them, you can go to http://www.randominformation.co.uk/vlog/ and enjoy the site as a videoblog (or vlog).

Secondly, you can now subscribe to an email update service so that you can receive an email whenever I add new content to the site. There’s one for the whole blog and one for just the videos.

Comments are back!

August 1st, 2006

Thanks to Mike A for pointing out that the comments system was still broken. I’ve fixed it now, so please let me have your comments on my ramblings and videos!

A quick technical update – OpenID and Livejournal (again!)

July 1st, 2006

For all my Livejournalista friends out there, you’ll be pleased to know that I’ve now added the new improved OpenID Comments for WordPress to the site, so you can log in to the site using your Livejournal ID and not have to faff about giving your name and email address. This also means that my OpenID entry into Livejournal has changed (again) – so I’m now indexed as http://www.randominformation.co.uk/writings. Sorry if that causes any inconvenience!
