November 7th, 2006I should also add that on Friday our first field party of the season were flown onto King George Island by HMS Endurance’s helicopters. They’re undertaking a series of geological studies to try and determine past variations in the island’s climate. KGI has the highest density of bases of any region on the continent, playing host to around 10 bases operated by different countries. At present part of our team are staying at the Chinese base, Great Wall, whilst a roving party have spent the last night with the Argentinians at Jubany before being helicoptered to another location tomorrow.
