Good luck with Fossil Bluff. IOTA AN- 018.
I think it was last activated (ham radio) in December 1994 by Gavin VP8GAV. I’ve got the log here at home 980 contacts over 6 days, but HF propagation was a little better then than at present.

Or is that for the job at Halley?

Paul – well spotted! That’s my job (and the job at Halley) starting next season, so if anyone wants to take my place, apply now…

You only doing 18 months? I’d assumed it was a 30 month trip. Seems like a lot of training to go through for a year (as I assume the old comm officer is still there this “summer”)
Dont feel like doing another year then?

Yes, I’m on an 18-month contract, although I was offered a second winter. The decision’s a tricky one, but basically I reasoned that if I wanted to do a second winter I could always reapply for the job again in a subsequent year – rather than commit to two winters on-the-trot.
